Folks,
I have attached a picture of a headstone I photographed in Ohlsdorf Cemetery, Hamburg last week.
I believe that the Swastika is illegal in Germany however because this headstone dated from prior to WW2 it may be exempt.
As well as the Swastika I have to admit that I was shocked to see the S.S. lightning flashes on the headstone.
Has anyone any information about the headstone or the individual buried there?

Without an accurate translation it is difficult to be sure why it appears to be a flyers grave but with SS symbols, unless the flashes meant something else?

The flashes were actually developed from the runic symbol Sig taken to mean victory which in German is the word Sieg. Hitler adopted the stylized double Sig as some sort of corporate branding for the SS as it could be taken as both SS and double victory.
The SS were never in the Luftwaffe, however there were SS pilots and some Luftwaffe people transferred to the SS. Need to find the history of Heinz to know more.
