The Museum was originaly at Scampton but had to move out apparantly because of the Airshow
Then it went to Gainsborough
and currently it is in Scunthorpe
but it is going to have to move again in December and has currently nowhere to go
A couple of general views of the collection today
(most of the smaller exhibits and displays remain packed away)

Am I the only person who thinks that this museum should be at Cosford? Personally I would get rid of the test aircraft and put these vehicles there instead. I cant be the only person who thinks that having a prototype TSR2 in the RAF museum is bad taste?

This is, I think, a private collection which has no link to the RAF or RAF Musuem other than (most of) the vehicles and the volunteers were former members.
On top of that those same volunteers live in the general area, ie Lincolnshire, and would probably not give up their time to travel across the country
Thats a good point. But my only complaint about the RAF museum is having things such as TSR 2 on display but almost no vehicles, after all the RAF has always had more vehicles than aircraft.
The big collections seem to care little for ground equipment, it's all the sexy airframes and missiles which get the public through the doors.
Saving vehicles seems to be the preserve of privateers. We try our best but don't expect support.
The museum is currently in a council owned industrial unit in Scunthorpe, but the council has now found a paying tenant so the museum is seeking another suitable location in Lincolnshire
A museum showcasing the work of Royal Air Force firefighters has just a few weeks to find a new home as the lease on the current building is about to expire.
More than 40 volunteers look after the collection in Lincolnshire – many of whom former service personnel.
Steve Shirley, the founder of the Museum of RAF Firefighting and a former RAF firefighter himself, is appealing for help to initially find a temporary home for the collection.
