Fenland West Norfolk Aviation Museum

This is near Wisbech, i've kept meaning to visit this for ages today i did, here's a few pics of what i saw.



This is a model of the Chain Home Radar which started a Bawdsey.

Can anyone shed any light as to where this site was around Stoke?



Hall 1 contains lots of crashed planes which have been excavated in the surrounding area .



Hall 2 has this Boeing 747



and Jet Provost flight simulators



See where this came from, one for you Binbrook



In the same room are one of the two MIG 29s which collided and crashed together at the Fairford Air Show in 1993, both pilots ejected safely



In Hall 3



is this Mosquito which was based at Swannington but crashed into the Wash

Outside is this Shackleton fuselage

and a Lighting which was originally based at Coltishall



They also have a Vampire which is being restored, this is an excellent museum which have lots to see and all for £1,50 for adults, Bargain !

Ooh Would just love that sighn in my collection.
It is a really good museum .Visited it several times and well worth the money .
Must pay them another visit and drool over the sighn

Great Stuff!

I went there for the first time earlier this year, and I have to say it was without doubt the friendliest place I have ever been to.

You did a good job of getting the Mig behind the glass without too much reflection, I jumped about like a demented monkey trying to find the right angle to get a shot of that.

How was their Vampire restoration coming on?

The Vampire looks much the same now as it did when you visited Hanglands, only they've moved it over a tad. Mind you it's in the dry so won't come to any harm.
As for the staff, they were more than happy to help explain about any of the exhibits, a very friendly place.

Looks like a great place to visit, one that I should get to soon - hopefully!

The Fenland & West Norfolk Aviation Museum are running prize bingos this winter to help the museum funds. We are buying the site of the museum and it will help to run the site.

After buying the site, funds will be rather low so this will help to keep our heads above water!!

The first two prize bingos (prizes donated) will be on December 17th and January 14th at Marshland St James, Norfolk in the village hall with the help of their W.I.

If you have eny friends in our area please inform as them the more money we make this winter will help. We Promote our museum at air shows and village shows in the summer

We will be at the village hall at 7-30 on the above dates

museam update for members of AIX Vampire is being cleaned and painted by March ATC as there is no light in the evenings now so they will start again in the spring they still do odd jobs on a saturday English Electric Lighning XS459 is having a paint up all Undercoat is on except for the tail we are waiting for the wind to die down the finishing coat has started to go on on the cockpit end it is being painted in 5 squadron markings and camouflaged hopefully is we get a break in the weather it will be ready for next years opening new prodjects are being completed inside and the front yard hopfully will be inproved -fred42
