SPANHOE - Day/Night Photo Shoot (10th February 2018)

Okay, a bit early with this one as it's not until next year but it'll soon come around no doubt.

I for one am really looking forward to this as it's not often photographers are welcomed onto the Windmill Aviation site & more importantly it will be the first public showing of the recently restored R.S 4 Desford Trainer. An aircraft I've been wanting to see for many years due to my interest in Desford Airfield. It was stored in a box at the recently closed Snibson Discovery Park for many years.
That aircraft along with the other gems housed at the airfield will make it a nice little event not to miss. A list of the other aircraft traking part in the photo shoot appears in the link below -
www.threshold.aero/event/spanhoe-day-and-nightshoot

"Having languished in storage for nearly forty years, the near-mythical Reid and Sigrist R.S.4 Bobsleigh has returned to airworthy condition. More commonly known as the “Desford Trainer”, we are pleased to announce that it will be making its first post-restoration public appearance at Spanhoe Airfield on 10 February.

Working alongside Windmill Aviation, we will be throwing open the doors to Spanhoe for a day/night photocall, allowing unprecedented access to the airfield’s resident aircraft. We’re also expecting a number of visiting aircraft, subject to weather, of course.

The aircraft will be positioned with photography in mind for a four-hour photocall, before the sun sinks below the horizon and we bring out the floodlights for a night photography session.

Aircraft listed will be available during the day photoshoot and a list for the evening event will be provided in due course. Additional aircraft are still to be announced, all participation is subject to weather and serviceability.

Money raised from this event will be donated to The Air Ambulance Service, who cover the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Rutland."

Nice one. This should be a good event.

....Talking of Desford, I'm sure I was supposed to be showing you around Desford Airfield about ten years ago Chris :cheer: We never did get round to that one lol!
I've not been to Spanhoe for ages. When we looked over the dispersed sites was the last time I think.. Even longer ago when I visited the Windmill Aviation site.
