The memorial to RAF Wing and No.26 Operational Training Unit was unveiled at the end of June. It sits adjacent to the perimeter track, overlooking the old main runway and close to the foundations for four of the airfields five hangers.

The three walled brick structure has a central plaque to all those who served at the airfield, plus one side plaque to mark the final flight of Captain Valentine Baker in the Martin-Baker MB3 and a second plaque to the near 33,000 allied prisoners of war from 21 nations who were repatriated to this airfield.

Should any of the Forum wish to visit the memorial, it sits roughly half way between the villages of Wing and Cublington in Buckinghamshire. The postcode is LU7 0LB and it’s ‘What Three Words’ reference to help you get to the precise location is stockpile flannel answer.
