An interesting and useful site is the FAA Alaskan airfields index - it contains Aerialviews of over a hundred Alaskan airfields ranging from the Anchorage In'tl/Lake hood complex to some strips that the use of would really require extreme confidence in immortality.

A map of Ladd field as it was in 1945 is available here(originally from the Library of congress as a rather large TIFF I have resized it to a more managable JPG).
Built in 1938 it later(1961 ) became Fort Jonathan M Wainwright with the US Army.

Just had a "suspicious file" warning from Comodo Firewall regarding the temp internet files from the site...I don't think it is anything to worry about - just mentioning it in case anyone else gets a problem.
