This is a detailed record of 617 Sqn. It is a pdf file about 2.2 Mb download and approx 755 pages. It lists some correspondence prior to the Dam Raids, includes crew names, place in the aircraft, aircraft numbers, losses , subsequent medal awards etc. A very detailed report.
Yes interesting copyright statement. I have had a look at the 617 Squadron ORB, one is not trusted to read it in the reading room and have to be escorted to a special room to have a look. The Scampton ORB is allowed to be seen in the reading room, despite there being a number of pages missing (removed by a reader), thus defacing the document. There have been many attempts, by readers to remove important docs and replacing them with false documents, thus re-writing history.
You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!
Maybe the original ORB should be scanned and only accessed via a computer screen unless a viewing is really required. Same applies to a lot of documents really.
The PDF volume is an excellent idea but may be prone to transcription errors.
