The map shows most of the airfields but sadly not the southern ALGs. I haven't checked all the maps but one is printed as 1940 with a further date of 12/43 shown.
I may have to copy the typeface and add the missing sites to a copy for inclusion into my airfield notes.
The same site also holds earlier OS maps as complete (?) series so this may be useful to see what was obliterated by the airfield.

The land use map is rather telling and if that 1942 map is as canny as it looks it may of just helped me locate a "missing" ELG I was after. A convenient "gap" in a large chunk of arable land.
I've actually got a set of RAF maps for each year of the war + the pre-war originals they were based on. I actually prefer to have the orignals (a snip on ebay) as often they've got some very interesting markings added by the pilots who used them.
Well, I was totally surprised to get hold of a complete set of 1942 Qtr Inch RAF maps for around £25. Not much in the way of pilot scribbles though. All I want now is a 1950s set.
Great to look at and that wonderful smell.
Tell me I'm not the only one who likes the smell of old maps/books
