Gentlemen : is something wrong or am I doing something wrong ?
I am trying to put an original use I.D. onto buildings at Leuchars. I commented to my son that the imagery for Leuchars is over 5 years out of date.
Previously I have tried to use the Historial Imagery facility and there was no response to movement along the cursor . I tried it again tonight and found that by moving the cursor slighty to the left from 2009 towards 2004 I get an almost current image; Has anyone else found this ? or does anyone know why on opening the facility it does not shown the most recent imagery ?/

Yes there is a bit of a problem with GE in Scotland specifically. Some of the newer imagery is not always better than the earlier ones. The most consistant coverage on GE is from Getmapping but this is sometimes overlaid with other later ones. I would have thought the visible one would be the latest but I suspect in some cases it is the "better" images.
Odd one as it's not consistant to my mind.

The image showing as current is not only the oldest on there but of much poorer quality than what is actually the latest !!

I normally zoom out slightly then change the date and see what crops up. Stornoway, if I remeber correctly, looks awful on GE as it is loaded but take it back and things get better. Very Odd.
Still, once you know this it is possible to get decent images for most places but not Dumfries or Edzell!
