Action Stations book help? was created by Tim
I mentioned this subject some months back, but I've been sidetracked on other projects (mostly a book on TSR2!) however I am now back in the process of completing an Action Stations Revisited book covering Wales, East Midlands and some of the NW area. There's a list here (if you can read it!) :-

So if anyone has any snippets of information, or any pictures of any of the various sites (especially from the dim and distant past), do please message me as it would obviously be nice to uncover new stuff. Anything used can be credited to the supplier or Airfieldinformationexchange (or both) as you prefer.

Thanks folks!

I can give you some bits and pieces about Northleach and Stoke Orchard if you like. In fact it was the lack of information in AS6 on Northleach that got me started researching the history in detail - a project that's lasted 15 years!

That would certainly be very helpful - the more obscure sites (or at least the ones with least information) are a real problem. Obviously I don't have space for lengthy histories but anything which improves on the original books is definitely a good thing!

Tim, whats your allowance for helping? LoL!

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

I wrote the Wikipedia entry for RAF Northleach and that alone has more information that AS6! :)

Allowance? I should be so lucky! Best I get is six copies of the finished book to give to folks who have helped. As I think you know, writing books like these isn't exactly a lucrative career, but seen as I'm scarcely qualified to do much else...

The space question is an issue that is difficult to handle sometimes. Obviously, there's often way more information on some sites than others, but you have to be careful not to go crazy on the "easy" airfields at the expense of others. Likewise, there's also the question of whether to dwell on far history (eg WWII) or more recent history, which was largely ignored in the PSL books. A happy medium is the best you can do!

Ossington wasflattened in the 50's by a workmate of mine. I did slap him for it. There are a few buildings left but not much.
