Grid references

Some mapping systems are fond of that numeric system of NGRs, always hate it when they do it. If you look at Bowhouse on Canmore it gives the NGR as NGR NS 467 348 but if you go to Canmapping and "hover" over that spot then the NGR is displayed as 246700, 634800.

Though it should be a trivial task to get the computer to display both versions to make it easier to poor humans as well as accept input in either form. The trouble is that the programmers are lazy, nearly thirty years ago I had a programme I wrote for my BBC Computer that would accept NGR with or without spaces and with different precisions yet it is common to find programs and sites which will only accept a NGR in one format. I didn't have it recognising these all numeric ones because I had never seen them at the time but I would have done if I had.
