This is not so! There is no such stipulation when you register. Yes photos are uploaded to the server but many forums do this. The admin have never used any of my photos and have actually allowed me to use many of theirs when I have requested. I would NOT recommend any such forum if I was not 100% happy with it!

Generally I liked the forum its very informative and a lot of primary source material on there. I suspect much of it from TNA, Kew but as none of it is sourced I may be wrong. I couldn't find anything about copyright, I suspect too, that some of the pics maybe in breach of copyright. I have no idea if what outkast is correct or not. I dont though like the attitude to browsing (its illegal) and the threat of being down graded from member to none member but I can understand why its a rule.

As the administrator of the Kent & Sussex History Forum, I'm baffled by the comment by Outkast. I have never said anything about 'using your pics without your consent'. Never have, never will. Methinks the fellow is getting me confused with a different forum?

norwwichpaul - Yes, a lot is from TNA. One thing that should be borne in mind, though, is that even though TNA hold the material, that doesn't mean that they hold the full copyright. Many of their images originate from news agencies and suchlike. A a TNA licence does (or did) allow forum or newslist use of their material in this fashion, providing that images are restricted to members only..

Regarding membership and the ability to view images etc.. I, and many other members, have ploughed a great deal of time, money and effort into getting the forum started. Images can only be viewed by members, and are for research and discussion purposes only. It's not too much to ask that people contribute in some small way by joining and posting. Anyone who joins, continually downloads material but doesn't contribute in any way, not even having the courtesy to introduce themselves, gets downgraded.

Couldn'd agree more, I can't stand the 'one post wonder', they annoy the hell out of me.

We have dedicated alot of time, money, resource, knowledge and info to creating this forum, like the KHS forum and it isn't too much to ask for people to join in and contribute. These forums are communities in their own right and the people on here are on the whole, willing to share and help out people when and where they can. Its not too much to ask for people to contribute back is it.

Welcome to AiX by the way, we a friendly bunch, honest we are!!

Having posted a bit on the Kent & Sussex History Forum I can say I have enjoyed the information on there especially as it covers areas I'm am, or was, familiar with in my younger days. The biggest problem with both AiX and Kent & Sussex is finding the time to catch up let alone post something new. I have no problem with having to be a member to view images, it makes you appreciate the work done by the admins.

It is a shame that having made an accusation, which has been rebutted, outkast has not posted again, to justify his accusation, or resiled from and apologised for making it.

I make no apologies for my accusation, I have prior knowledge of the people who run that forum and the way in wich the operate, their reputation is not a good one, I wont go into details here as its an open forum, but lets just say, if you swim with sharks..... you know the rest.

Indeed this is an open and 'public' bulletin board (as is the Kent & Sussex one).
Odd that you are happy to make accusations publicly yet not prepared to discuss the facts that support those accusations?
What is the 'bad reputation' you now accuse the admins of said bulletin board? Where is the proof of this new accusation?

Make accusations by all means...but please also provide the facts that back them up.

Before being randomly accused of some kind of bias...I'm not in Kent or Sussex nor am I registered as a user of the bulletin board.
