Uniform Recognition

Does any one recognize the uniform of a relative born in the 1890's who is believed to have joined the RAF ?

Are the medal ribbons the 1914 star, a war medal and a Victory medal (Pip, Squeak and Wilfred)?

It appears to me to be an early RAF officers uniform circa 1919-1920 ish. It appears to my eyes that the rank badge on the sleeve has an eagle above it which would put it at 1919-1920.

Thanks for the feedback as the family were lead to believe that he had joined the RFC before transferring to the RAF so if it is an early style uniform then that may be accurate.

He had two brothers who were injured at the Somme with one resulting in a fatal injury.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission have confirmed that his brother is commemorated at the Delville Wood Cemetery, Longueval, Somme.

Jim never returned to Maryborough after the conflict and his injured brother finally returned in 1928 after years of surgery to repair his major skull injuries received in 1916.
