Canadian Forestry Corps

I think the records are held in Canada but I notice that many units of the Canadian Forestry Corps are shows having worked on airfield construction both in France and the UK. There could be some useful information there for anyone researching WWI airfields.

Most companies were engaged in forestry operations (including the making of sitprops, sleepers,sawlogs and axe handles) but some cleared, drained, levelled and graded sites for aerodromes, both in England and in France

No. 123 Company, Canadian Forestry Corps

Background Information
Organized at Sunningdale in July 1917.

Employed in the construction of various aerodromes in southern England. Sometimes called a Flying Corps Company

Should also have mentioned that there was also the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit and Newfoundland Forestry Corps (not part of Canada during WWI and WWII) and various other countries but it was the reference to aerodromes that caught my eye.

Many of the war diaries of the CFC are on that site but not transcribed.
