North of Doncaster, any ideas? was created by NJR
Hi

Anyone know anything about this installation, between Barnby Dun and Dunscroft, North of Doncaster?

Don't know if it's military or not, not been up to it either.

Hi,from robert haig,

The following is from Peaceful Airfields by John F Hamlin. Doncaster ( Armthorpe ) SE625055 (approx). 4 miles east-northeast of Doncaster. Opened by the Mayor of Doncaster 16 June 1932, with Sir Alan Cobham's National Aviation Day in attendance.........etc.

Yes, that was one of the original Doncaster flying fields, a short life and no evidence of such now.

The place I'm interested in is further west than Armthorpe, thanks though.

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

Thanks NJR! I photographed this place over 15 yrs ago during a trip between Netherthorpe and Breighton, with the intention of finding it on a map and making a ground visit. Alas it appears to be missing from most maps as until now I could never find it! Even with the advent of internet mapping I couldn't find it. I suspected then that it was a commercial store. Glad to know that it isn't just me that find these places interesting.
