We spotted this on a South Uist beach last week. Not a million miles from the Benbecula ranges.

Part of a projectile or inflatable life raft? Or, something else?

Approx 4m long.

Google image'd both and drawn a blank.

Any ideas?

Well it doesn't look very aerodynamic with those big heavy recessed bolts, I used to work with various instrumntation pods on Harrier trials = saw other pods and they were never anything like as heavily built and draggy as that; also the curved window wouldn't be great.

Then again I do a lot of sailing and it's not a normal bit of kit like a liferaft for that either.

I'm guessing it is for a marine application though, there's a lot of interest in unmanned vessels at the moment, maybe something to do with instrumentation on a test of one of these ?

A Google search brings up some aircraft parts beginning 03-5818-5000

It might be worth speaking to the local coastguard. They could have ways of looking up the number but also their auxiliaries can retrieve it - it could cause confusion if washed back out to sea. I came across a very old life-raft / buoyancy aid on Kintyre. I rang them at the time because if it got washed out to sea then they might waste time checking it out in a real search.
