I photogrpahed this at Stansted yesterday, I was the only original wartime building I could find.

My first thought was a Synthetic Navigation Classroom but I now think it is too long for one of them.

The weather was awful by the time I got to STN so that was all I photographed there.

I would've gone along with your original idea, even thought link trainer.
I've seen a very similar looking dinning hall today, it had the same stub corridors where it would have joined another TB building (cook house).
The end bit makes it look MT, fire tender related though.

Could it have been "improved" during rebuild? I might have to get my aerials out and the document I found on the web - not that it will tell me its purpose but might should any alterations.

If you are passing again the other war time buildings are the old BAA Social Club www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.88041 ... =0&src="msl " (which is now behind gate but is still sign posted) and if head towards Burton End along Bury Lodge Lane, behind a bungalow on the right hand side is load of Nissen Huts & other buildings www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.89245 ... =0&src="msl " . Stop at the Ash pub and view some pictures of commemorating the 344th Bomb Group.

In a field behind the Ash is this www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.88993 ... =0&src="msl " a bit further up the road is www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.88800 ... =0&src="msl "

The building you photographed looks a lot like a building at Fersfield. On the Site plan, it is identified as "Gas Clothing and Respirator Store, 13730/41". Seems a little large but...

EDIT: Richard, just looked at your website you have some good photos of the building at Fersfield there, check it out. I think it is the same.

Thanks Karl, not thought about the "Gas Clothing and Respirator Store, 13730/41" - if that is the case then I guess the extra bit on the end with the garage doors would have been an addition then?

I'm hardly an expert, but there appears to be enough difference in style that I think it is an add-on. I don't suppose anyone has an airfield plan for Stansted?
