Its confusing because of course most of the RAF airfields during the battle of britain didnt have metalled runways, the vast majority of them were of course grass. Loooking at it it looks more like a bomber base than a fighter base.

Of course I could be totally wrong!

There looks to be a number of different airfields on that clip, not sure which ones though. I think Biggin Hill is at the beginning with the gate guard and chapel behind.

Yes that is definately Biggin Hill but not the disused runway. The Hurricanes were at North Weald and I caught a glimpse of Hornchurch and Duxford in there as well. The disused runway looks like a heavy bomber station possibly USAAF.

The blackout board with the names on is the White Hart in Brasted, a couple of mile from Biggin Hill. I went there in the 70s. Still had an atmosphere but I can't recall if the board was the original or a photograph. Will look at this more closely when I get time.

I am assuming that the runway ands tower is the same place in which case its a fighter station as there were fighter pens so could be Harrowbeer, its not Ibsley, not Andreas, probably not Rednal or Portreath, could be Ayr, anyway no idea really.
You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

Yes I saw the chapel at Biggin. As for the runway and the tower as has been said it could be anywhere, I dont think it was Ayr at surely that had been taken over by Prestwick by then?
