Llanbedr had three arrester barriers on rwy 36/18 as it was then and rwy 33, for the use of Valley touch and go practice and Llanbedr unmanned aircraft, ie Meteor U15 U16 and Jindivik

These look to be a later type to one ones I was referring. Valley and some other bases have these and evidence of the the older type. I note these 'later' barriers seem to be at the end of the tarmac.

I can remember when they replaced our Mk 6 barriers with what were intially called Mk 12s but were then re-named Type A barriers and they did indeed put in new concrete bases for the stanchions which were closer to beginning of the paved surface.

From the limited info I have to hand by 1982 there seems to be a mix of types being used.
As selection of airfields in 1975 for example Binbrook,Colishall Valley and Wattisham had Safebar Mk6.
By 1982 Binbrook and Coltishall had Mk12 'A' while Wattisham still had Mk6 as did Valley and Leuchars

So I wonder if 1982 was around the time period that they changed over to the Mk12.
