En route to Harrogate today and spotted what appears to be a TBC hut in a field in Spofforth, link below. Couldn't get a pic but it screamed out WW2 military, google not helping, anyone any info?

I'm intrigued by the quality stone walls running either side of the road!

The remains of two entrances into the site from the road are still visible and it shouts military but I cannot connect it with anything at this time.

Land Army hut? No sign of any group of buildings and no reason to be radar or AA.

The local Home Guard are mentioned here ;

The links to Wartime Wetherby Parts 1 to 4 are all worth a read too .

Mention of an AA gun at Spofforth here ;

Nothing on DOBDA within 5 miles. HAA site 5 miles SW towards Pool.
Some interesting soil/crop marks in that field - but what they might be is beyond my limited archaeological expertise. And the NE boundary of that field has an unusual line. Local historians and/or agrihistorians possibly your best bet - at least for starters!

Every time we visit my son's family in Harrogate we pass by it, it looks as though there was only one hut but you never know. It shows up well on Google Street View.

Richard, just at the left above the picture is 'Print - Send - Link'

Click on 'Link' , then right-click and select 'copy'.

Hope that makes sense - if not I'll try again.
