What would this have been used for??

I saw this at the old Limavady Airfield (Which was a Coastal Command Airfield) and wonder what it was used for.

It is heavy and made of metal filled with concrete although not as big as something to which perhaps a flying boat would have been moored to.

Has anyone any idea what it was used for??

ALSO

In a nearby building there is a large wooden packing case stensilled with "MILLMAN ENGINE" however when I have checked the web Millman appear to have made boat engines.

I guess that with the Coastal Command involvement at the airfield there is some connection however any information would be appreciated.

It looks water related more than land related but I can't say I recognised the shape. I wonder if the covering has rotted away as there is no way concrete could be persuaded to stay inside that basket whilst setting.

Could it be a wing, tie down anchor point used during windy weather?

Ian, that's exactly what I thought when I first saw it. An Anchor Point, in windy weather. What else could it be? Wil no-doubt find-out that it's something to do with Farmer's or the like
