Unknown building near Northleach. Glouc'

Noticed this building on my first here a few weeks ago, took my camera today for the second visit. The chap who owns this small industrial estate that's about 2 miles from Northleach wasn't there today to ask. Nobody else had any idea about the name of this building. Another is called Spartacus. Was also told of this drop tank? that's been laying here for quite a while.

AM, do you have a close up of the blue makers plaque?

Certainly looks like a drop tank, possibly from a Hunter?

Yes, the tank looks to be a 100 gallon outboard used on Hunter but could be a 230 gallon inboard; I can't judge the size too well.

As PTF pointed out, it's a modern farm building. It's on Parkway Farm on the A429 just south of Northleach opposite Camp Wood where the US Hospital and Polish School was. Lysander was a Spartan general so I think the names of the buildings follow a Greek, rather than aircraft theme.

As soon as you posted the picture of the "drop-tank" I recognised it - I distinctly remember a number of years ago driving past the farm when the barn was still framework. My keen eye spotted a drop-tank looking thing sitting on the barns foundation. So you've confirmed what I saw and it's been there a while.

The second "barn" PTF linked to *is* on part of the old Northleach airfield but it's actually not an airfield building. It was put there around 1950 after the site was cleared.

Well done OEB,That's sorted that little query out PDQ. As for the drop tank, I think it is about 6' in length, though I'm probably wrong about that as I was with my distance from the water tanks to the industrial estate.

Now if you'd only looked over the wall on the other side of the road....
