Another unknown, but what and where?

Another unknown, but what and where? was created by REF
This photo is hanging on the wall of the Norfolk Gliding Club at Tibenham but it isn't Tibenham in the airfield. My first thought was Defford but I really have no idea. There is a bit of derelict runway in the foreground, a weird glider thing and a radar type dish in the background. Any ideas anyone?

The weird glider thingy is a replica of the George Cayley glider which was flown in 1973 for a film. No doubt the interweb will have all the gen, but I recall that the replica was built at Brough and is now exhibited at Elvington.

Can't help with the location though.

I think that the array in the background is a radio telescope.

Well, as suggested I Googled and (eventually) the answer is Lasham - see attached (go to last page for details)

It later flew from Holme-on-Spalding Moor (where the filming took place) and a couple of stately home sites before ending up in a museum.

Is there a Radio Telescope at Lasham (or was there one when the photo was taken)?

There is one at Chilbolton airfield not too far away......

Hmm, I had the same thought. However the Chilbolton radio antenna is much larger so it isn't there. However, it still raises the question of what it is. A bit more digging reveals that the RAE (later DRA, DERA etc) had a radio research outstation at Lasham, parented by Farnborough, which the antenna belonged to. See the following fascinating link on Lasham airfield history - the RAE stuff starts on page 30.
