I took these photos from a Chinook in 1989 but lost the list of names I wrote at the time. If anyone recognises (definitely) these locations I would appreciate confirmation.

Great Massingham 1989? - possibly another airfield in same region of E Anglia/Norfolk/Lincs?.

The first two photos I'd agree are Swinderby but I'm not sure on the last two

The first two photos do seem to be of Swinderby.
The control tower I believe to be the one at Matching Green.
Can't help with the last one at the moment though.

All the best,

Now that you have said Matching Paul, I'd agree with that too.

I dont think it's Gt Massingham. I had a look on GE and I couldn't match the curved
perri track/road towards the bottom of the pic. In the background are what looks like
lakes/broads (for our american friends, broads in this instance are a series of lakes in
the Norfolk area). Also there is a lot more of the old airfield still extent than can be
seen in this photo.

Just to say I can confirm without a doubt that the tower is Matching Green!

Thanks for confirming Matching again. The Gt Massingham photo is a bit of a puzzler though. I was flying from the Bodney area to the north west but I just cannot recall the location of this airfield. I thought it might be Massingham as it was close to the route we flew. I am sure someone will recognise it.

Don't know if this will help but it shows hangars? at far left of airfield. Anyone recognise it. Sorry it is a bit blurred.

That last photo is Swannington, without a doubt in my mind. See the flashearth link here;

The photo is taken looking south east down what was runway 14/32.

It was the line of trees that gave it away in the end for me.
