Any ideas of the era off this 5 gallon petrol can, it turned up at Llanbedr today is it Civilian or could it be military and from the airfield. It has British Manufacturer and what looks like Free Package stamped on it?

More info, it's likely to be a 6 Gallon can, pattern No. WD 305/16 47/9 definitely WWI or earlier vintage.

Does it have any markings on the lid?
