I asked the question, did you ever loiter/patrol on two? The answer plain and simple, no we didn’t need to 18 hours was easily achieved.

Nimrod was so overpowered I've seen them take off from Farnborough on 3 (easily seen by the lopsided smoke trail), but I bet the other one was running 'just in case'.Yes the Nimrod did loiter on 2 engines.

I saw a Nimrod get airborne on rwy 24 one day at Marham, he was airborne just past the intersection with the short rwy!
