That matt black finish must have been a nightmare in hot and sunny climes. I remember some advice I was given decades ago - never buy a black car - its like driving in an oven after even the briefest sun. Air conditioning these days helps but they can really eat up the fuel.

For the last few years there have regularly been two U2s deployed to Fairford at any given time, rotating out from Beale AFB in California.
This deployment was made a permanent Operating Location for the 99th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron in 2019.
