I hope you're right about 'BOB' however it would be a huge undertaking, I would think stitching it back together after road transportation would be very difficult, and if the case one wonders why at least it wasn't flown to Shawbury. Also worth noting that the now scrapped BA VC-10 was flown into Cosford - in different times of course

The Nimrod at Cosford was flown to Kemble and brought by road.

The Final Touchdown

That last photo brings back memories. In the spring of 1981, I was a young apprentice at BAE Weybridge (Brooklands). I and one of my colleagues were gaining experience on the factory floor. There was a set of tanks set up set up in the "Tin Smiths" department and we were given a task to assemble the vent pipe system using the first batch of "master" components. this was to ensure that all the pipework fitted together correctly. The pipes in question are those clearly visible on the left hand side of the tanks. We did get our photo's in the company magazine with a posed shot holding up a pipe to the side of the tank. Sadly I don't have the magazine any more, but there is an outside possibility it is still at my parents house. And yes we did find a pipe that was wrong, there were some complex bends and I remember one had a 15 degree bend the wrong way.

BOB is safe but 2 more have been scrapped and i would like to buy some bits and bobs, any idea who the breaking company is??

I couldn't get anything out of GJD ( www.gjdservices.co.uk/ ), particularly wanted the flying surfaces position indicator from the ceiling panel, can't help thinking smaller parts will go through the likes of Jet Art/Ebay. Things may have changed lately though.

Bob will be going to Cosford, they dont know when though.
