Most have gone now but the two in the photo, both former Supers are ok for now as I understand it. Both owned by Gary Spoors of GJD, K4 ZD241 is being preserved in running condition (top one of the two here) and can be seen in action again this year at the Cold War Jets day held at Briuntingthorpe. The other is K3 ZA147, currently being used as a spares ship for 241. Long term future I am not sure about.
Other VC10's recently gone into preservation..
C Mk1 XR808 at Cosford
K3 ZA150 at Dunsfold (Brooklands)
K3 ZA148 at Newquay (Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre)
C Mk1 XV108 at East Midlands (Flightdeck and forward cabin)
Here is 148 at Newquay....I am lucky enough to get to look after her.....
Memories........... I've forgotten what they are !!

Phewww!! Thanks for that.
I'd wrongly got it in my head that there was still 3 VC-10's left at Brunty & that 241 was parked in her usual parking spot on the pan in front of the WW2 Control Tower just out of shot in Nigels photo here.. I didn't realise that was her in that photo. Hopefully they're both just parked up in the 'graveyard' part of the airfield for some maintenance work. As far as I'm aware 241 was going to carry on being a 'runner' for the considerable future. I'll ask my mate who's involved at Brunty with the museum if he knows what the current situation is.
I guess the third could have been XR808 ? ......onsite until taken by road to Cosford a few months ago. I know the A Team have had a working weekend on 241 recently.....it could have been this weekend just gone.

Definitely not XR808, I remember her leaving. It's ok Chris, It was just me having a senior moment!! There's definitely just the 2 left & has been for a while. To be honest though it has got so crowded down at that far end of the airfield with big aircraft waiting to be chopped up it was getting hard to work out what was still up there & what wasn't. Because the Tri stars are still 'live' nobody is allowed to venture up there for a closer look anymore. There's not a lot of free ramp space these days.
