I wonder what the volunteers who put their labour into restoring this aircraft think about the sale?

I thought that the St Mawgan Shackleton had been sold to the enthusiasts.

we need a mra pdq,dare say it would be a fraction in cost,of what we taxpayers gave to BAe to turn "s" a/c into scrap.

It's going to be the Sentinel , a conversion of course and not a new aircraft ! ;

I think it mainly a software enhancement to existing systems.

I thought that the St Mawgan Shackleton had been sold to the enthusiasts.

WL795 was originally restored by the Cornish aviation Society and subsequently looked after by them for the 20 years that she has been "guarding" St mawgan. Throughout this time it was owned by the MOD apparently who now seek to dipose of it.

The bidding process was closed just before Christmas 2014. I am now lead to understand that a problem has been identified with said bidding process and this has delayed things further.

WL795 remains on guard for the time being.

Memories........... I've forgotten what they are !!

I recently visited Manchester Museum of Science and Industry and seen the Shackleton there but would be a major operation to get her out in to the fresh air again
