Airfield in Memphis Belle documentary

Here are a couple of screenshots taken from the WWII documentary about the Memphis Belle. Some aerial footage is of Bassingbourn, but this is a different airfield. The "square" hardstands are also unusual to me. Also, where is the church that is shown so prominently at the beginning of the film? I presume it is just off Bassingbourn airfield.

just an idea

i believe the film was made during the War as a propagnda job. Is it possible they used different airfields to confuse the Germans who I have no doubt would watch them

Karl,

The film featured Chelveston along with Bassingbourn - but it is also believed some footage was included of the 92BG during their stay at Bovingdon.

Thanks guys, I was able to match it up with Alconbury, north side near the bomb dump. I knew it was filmed at several airfields. I read that they were following several airplanes as they were not sure which one would make the magic 25 first (or at all!).

And I believe I have found the church, east side of Church Way, just south of Pringle way. Thanks for the photo also Woodster! Anybody have a current photo of it? A "Now and Then" type of thing...
