Here are a couple of screenshots taken from the WWII documentary about the Memphis Belle. Some aerial footage is of Bassingbourn, but this is a different airfield. The "square" hardstands are also unusual to me. Also, where is the church that is shown so prominently at the beginning of the film? I presume it is just off Bassingbourn airfield.

i believe the film was made during the War as a propagnda job. Is it possible they used different airfields to confuse the Germans who I have no doubt would watch them
Thanks guys, I was able to match it up with Alconbury, north side near the bomb dump. I knew it was filmed at several airfields. I read that they were following several airplanes as they were not sure which one would make the magic 25 first (or at all!).
And I believe I have found the church, east side of Church Way, just south of Pringle way. Thanks for the photo also Woodster! Anybody have a current photo of it? A "Now and Then" type of thing...
have got a match up pic but its not too good as took photo late in the day and the sun needs to be on the clock face to do it justice! my next trip is down to alconbury when its a sunny morning!!
pause now upon this path, And listen to the song echoing from the past.
