I am sorry about going slightly off course here, but a 'Canadian connection' presented itself recently. I found that a RCAF Bombing & Gunnery School existed during WWII at Fingal (Ontario) and that this school had gunnery ranges on the northern shore of Lake Erie. A quick look on Google Earth produced the attached, seen at the extreme right hand edge of the accessible area some (?) miles SE of Fingal. What may be a 200y MTR seems to have roughly the right shape, size, alignment and is built on the shoreline at the expected location.
If it's an MTR it's not off topic. I see what you mean though, it does bear a resemblance. A pity there is only one layer in GE. It would have been good to confirm it was there a few years before as well.
Not 100% convinced but then again I don't know this area. I've added it to my GE list as a probable.
Does Canada has an Old-Maps or OS equivalent online I wonder? A question for our Canadian resident I think.
It's not a big country so keep looking there might be more

Canada has a mapping agency, the thing that gets me is just how difficult it is to get copies of any of their stuff, You cannot just waltz into your local book shop and get em off the shelf.
I think they are available for purchase through the web. I will check.
I started looking for ranges out here but the goolie earth coverage is patchy at times.
just occured to me that since the BCATP had gunnery schools this may be a good place to start lookin for MTR's in Canada. (not to mention the US one I have mentioned else where on this esteemed site)
I think I posted a list, in overseas airfield, on the other hand, will get one on here this weekend if I can get the time
They look to be the equivalent of 1:50,000 at best so detail is not sufficient for MTR hunting. The MTR site in question appears to be a cluster of buildings. but no sign of any parts of the familiar shape.

the Atlas of Canada gives acess to the 1 50000 maps I eluded to earler; here is the BCATP airfield at ST Eugene ( it is somehwere I am familar with so it was eay to find!)
unfortuneately it looks like you can on link to the high level map, but keep on clicking on the target and you should be there. The scale is probably to small to identify a MTR, although you can certainly ID runways
Started this thread with the aim of moving selected posts but the mod tools seem to offer only moving of threads and not posts. Will come back when I have the knowledge
