Excellent find Paul. The drawing was supposed to be an 'Artist's Impression' of a likely site. Heyhouses Lane site is still largely intact but now surrounded by housing. Even the lovely trees have gone. LINK

There's this five-TOB site off Heyhouses Lane at Lytham St. Annes:

All five blocks and the canteen are still standing with later extensions, marked on the current OS maps as the ubiquitous "Government Offices".
Browsing back up the thread, the layout of the buildings, and even the boundary hedge and nearby roads looks very similar to the first illustration:

The buildings at Droitwich have only been gone about 2 years now.The last operators were there for issuing medals.

The one at Preston wasnt in Preston! It was in Penwortham which is about one mile south on the A59, and as far as I know the buildings are still there but no longer used by any government dept.

How old is that picture? I thought that government use had finished, but I havent set foot in Penwortham for quite a few years.

I don't know why but the sign made me think of those corny TV programmes that have signs like "Top Secret Missile Factory" or even the Iraq war one that said "Baby Milk Factory" on a nice clean sign lying on top of a ruined factory.

Until about ten years ago the Post Office tower was top secret and the government denied any knowledge of its existence!
