Somewhere near Thetford/Brandon WW II Airfields, help needed

My father when he was part of the US Air Cops in 1942-45 was stationed at an

Hello Peter, welcome to the forum. If your father was billeted at Brandon the nearest base would be Lakenheath. What was his unit, squadron etc?

Lakenheath was RAF during WWII, nearest USAAF base was probably East Wretham.

Other than those already mentioned there was AAF Station 517 Barnham (Little Heath) Forward Filling Depot nearby, along with AAF Station 587 Barnham (Warren Wood) Ordnance Depot and 3rd Air Division HQ at AAF Station 116 Elveden Hall AKA Camp Blainey.
A little further out is Stn. 375 Honington and its attached Stn. 595 Troston Strategic Air Depot.

Maybe Knettishall, but there are also, East Wretham, Snetterton Heath and Honington nearby that were used by the Americans during the war.

Hi Graham, thats correct up to mid 44, but there may have been a USAAF presence after 149 and 199 Sqdns left in May 44, as I understand LH had been selected as the first base to be expanded to house B29s'.
