RAF reserve landing airfields status 2011

Boulmer (or should I say the modern day Boulmer) doesnt have a runway, but you can see the wartime runway from the top of the SAR flight building. And it does have fire cover, or it did when I visited it. Dont forget its got an underground bunker, remember Neatishead????

The main runway at Portreath is in good order, and ISTR it being used both by Culdrose Sea Kings and those of SARTU when it was at St Mawgan. Fire cover was provided by Culdrose - at least it was their vehicles that were encountered on the Redruth - Helston road.

These days the runway is more often used as a drag-strip.

As for Leconfield; you'd get some confused pilots, as the runways are laid-out with road markings, traffic-lights and roundabouts.

Dishforth was visited by C-130 in 94, to fly some Lynx out to the Balkans. While taxi-ing one of the Hercs' crewmen got injured. Seemingly he popped-out onto a wingtip to check the clearance from an adjacent tree and fell off.

Boulmer IIRC had a TACR.

But why the interest in the fire cover everywhere? Not planning a bit of arson are we????

As it doesn't have a runway it isn't a relief landing ground. Most if not all stations (flying or not) have some form of fire cover, as there is SAR flight based there they will certainly have fire cover.

Yes iam a mad man with a tanker full of kerosene.... I was just looking at current RAF airfields both active and reserve/relief, and thus wondered what if any fire cover was provided thats all, also i would be interested to know if fire cover was provided at other non flying installations, be these UK.US, suppose as my own Fire truck came from a ROF i have a interest in these things.

Yes I saw that, but i was just trying to point out that Boulmer isn't a RLG which is what the original question was about. As i said before most if not all stations have some form of fire cover even if they are non flying stations.
Everytime when the Herc's from Mildenhall use Sculthorpe they send a fire engine from Lakenheath or Mildenhall to provide fire cover while they are using the airfield.
