The layout in Willis & Hollis is identical to the photo, including the apron. So MAYBE a pic shortly
after constructed in, I believe 1941.

I would say you're right Hugo, looks like a typical post completion layout photo. Might still have been a Thursday though!

I have to agree with Peter and yourself it looks like a Thursday alright. See the way the light hits the concrete, that only happens on a Thursday.

Is it one of those airfields where the landing strip is invisble and all the aircraft are hidden in the bushes and any hangars are disguised to look like large farm buildings?

Clue time?

It started out RAF and then became RN. It's with a triangle formed by Birmingham, Bristol and Reading.
