High Post?

No , wrong era, that was 30s & 40s.

This is fairly low-laying - about 75ft amsl.( a guess)

Not Strathallan.

Don't read to much into " nice antique aircraft " - old but not museum type stuff.

The strip was at the other end of the country and was within about 800 yds of the sea.

Re the hotel - it is privately owned and is a 5 star hotel.....- thinking helicopters may help , particularly with regard to the World Championships in 1973 - altho' I doubt you'll find a linking reference on the web.

I am possibly being a little unfair with this one as it is possible that only GA and helicopter pilots and aircraft enthusiasts would know of it.

Well youve got me totally and utterly stumped (good job I like cricket!), only country house hotel with five stars I can even guess at is the one on the Devon coast but dont know what its called. Although I do know Agatha Christie used to live there.

Not Bigbury- don't think there was ever any kind of airfield there(if you mean Bigbury in Devon).

Agatha Christie lived at Greenway (nr Galmpton) in Devon.

You are a couple of counties too far west .

Use Gleneagles as some kind of starting point for the hotel...Google is your friend.

That's the hotel... the airstrip is close by but in a different town..... should be easy now .

FWIW the helo connection is that the CGH was one of the first UK hotels to offer a helipad for guests and in 1973 hosted many of the competitors for the World Helo Championships at Middle Wallop on a specially prepared helo landing ground....I lived about 400 yards away and was more than a little amazed to see three Mil-2s arriving at the CGH.(plus about 20 others).

As I said - should be easy now.

Yes - Gore Farm/New Milton is the place - last used around 1999....the antiques I was refering to were a Hornet Moth and Tiger Moth that lived there in the 60/70s.

BTW the location shown by the downloadable KMZ file from the Bones Aviation page is incorrect - it places it in a housing estate about 400 yds east of the actual location.
