I must see if I still have my old programmes. My 1969 one from Biggin Hill was cut up as part of a school project but I'm sure I have the Mildenhall and Greenham ones. Didn't like Fairford as a venue so only went once.

Agreed, Regards the Fairford Air Shows ! Far, too-expensive, too-far, spaced-out, and No Real Air Show atmosphere, we All thought ! Nothing-like as good as Duxford ! Or North Weald and Especially Mildenhall !
Some great stuff coming on here
QUESTION I am looking for shots of the SAAB incident at the 1972 Farnborough airshow- it had a wheels up misadventure- It is the fire trucks in use at that show that I am researching
regards TED
A bit late I know but I've only just started looking through this thread.
I didn't visit the '72 Farnborough show as I was otherwise occupied - at Sumburgh at the other end of the country - however when I was posted to Farnborough in '74, I was told the SAAB wasn't actually a 'gear up' landing; apparently what happened was the pilot left it a 'bit' late to select gear down and touched down on his belly; when they lifted the aircraft up to remove it from the runway, the wheels dropped down and locked due to gravity!
Fire trucks at all Farnborough shows were 'borrowed' from all sorts of different airfields to form 3 x Cat 6 fire groups which are dispersed around the airfield.
