Welcome Gary. 410 spent several ocasions at Hunsdon (Denis will be helpful). They moved around a lot as I'm sure you know, Ayr and Drem in Scotland plus Scorton, Acklington, Coleby, Castle Camps, Colerne - and a number of short stays at other airfields in England.

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

Welcome to the forum by the way, I have fond memories of St Louis when I was last there, we found a bar that had only just started to serve a British beer called 'Boddingtons, Cream of Manchester' Since we were there for a few hours, we managed to drank the one and only keg of this creamy Bitter they had as a trial, before anyone else even got a look in!
Happy days!

Hi Gary welcome to the site. I've been to Scott AFB a few times and enjoyed the Bar-B-gue in St Louis! I was also impressed with the WWII musuem down town as well. Enjoy the site.

Sadly, I must admit that I haven't been to the WW II museum for quite some time. I recall taking my Father-In-Law (WW II vet) there in the early
'90's; haven't been back since. :(

I see you are in Georgia. I was in Atlanta in early 2009 and had a chance to visit the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History in Kennesaw. Had a great time there as my interests in military history began with the American Civil War.

Thanks to you all for the leads for info on the 410 and 425 Squadrons. Several years ago I decided that I was going to build a 1/72 scale diorama of an airfield where the 410 squadron was based. I have several air field maps I received from contacts in the UK, a score of Mosquito kits to build, a half dozen vehicles and a few Bofor AA guns already built, several building kits including an AirFix control tower kit and 4 or 5 AirFix RAF personell kits. As you could guess, the diorama would be rather large, say 8' by 8'. My intent was to actually have it built so that I could hang it on a wall to be viewed "from above".

As I am sure you will know, 410 and 425 Sqns are still part of the RCAF (the Airforce, just got back its R, so RCAF is once again in use). Stationed at Cold Lake Alberta (temp today -16C) and equiped with CF18 they are a Tactical Fighter Training Squadron. 425 are stationed in Quebec at Bagotville and are also equiped with CF18's. The Bagoville CF18s were deployed as part of Operation MOBILE the Canadian Forces' participation in Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR the NATO mission in the Med.

Hello from Bomber county!

Just started reading about El Escuadrón 201 (the Aztec Eagles) as the Mrs. has family connections to it! You might be interested in RAF Wellingore's history (in Lincolnshire), John Gillespie Magee was stationed there and also killed flying from there!

Boddingtons is also available in Johannesburg! :-D
