Thanks for for the correction, i quoted the 8th because i thought the losses were in the small hours of the 8th although the mission started on the 7th,i stand corrected

The losses did occur in the small hours of the 8th, I've just tended to write 7th/8th, 2432 was claimed at around 01:40 on the 8th, 2908 was intercepted while N3327 was outbound to its patrol area probably about 01:15, that a/c took off at 01:00 and landed at 01:40.

I am not sure who shot down 2847, only 1 He111 was reported to have been attacked by 96 Squadron, somewhere in the Chester area but the kill seemingly not confirmed, it was last seen diving near vertically into the cloud tops (that patrol was at 15,000ft), while other than the one at Hazel Grove 256 Squadron recorded 3 He111s.

RE-Junkers JU 88 of 3(F) Aufkl,Gr 123 crash landed 07/09/40

According to the book,Wings across the border,in a weapons amnesty in 1988,a full working order Rheinmettal MG15 complete with saddle drum magazine,was handed in to Chirk police station by an ex home guardsman that "liberated" it off the afore said aircraft.
He had kept it in his greenhouse all those years wrapped in a blanket....
