Does somebody have an experience with the order of Afd Record Site plans with the RAF Museum in Hendon ?
Any idea of the size of an Airfield Record Site plan ?
Do they send it folded or in a cardboard roll ?

I have always asked for A2 size copies as the organ also were often very large. Most of mine arrived folded but I think you can specify rolled. The cost will be higher though.
I prefer folded as they flatten out okay and don't want to curl up despite being stored flat for years.
Don't expect a quick service as they can take a few weeks depending on the number of requests they receive. Posting to Belgium shouldn't take any longer.

I fact I need a good plan of :
* the airfield
* the surrounding sites
and also and index of the buildings and their use
Is an RSP enough ?
Or are there different plan types ?

You may want to ask for the airfield and dispersed sites and building indexes if they are separate.
Another option is to ask for any plans relating to these airfields, which I have done in the past. The problem with this is that there may be quite a few and as you don't know the cost until you get the invoice it may be more than wanted to pay. This can be useful if changes were made.

Dalton - Dispersed Sites and Airfield is two plans
East Moor - Dispersed Sites, Airfield, Bomb Store Layout on three sheets
MStG - depends what you want but if wartime then Dispersed sites and either of two for All Sites
(there are later plans for MStG as well)
Skipton on Swale - I don't have but from memory there are four or five options with Dispersed Sites and Airfield on different sheets

I am looking for period 1943-1945.
I also bought a couple of books (5) concerning Bomber Command & 6 Bomber Group as well.

Has anyone recently paid a visit to Hendon, we went there yesterday for 5 hours. Seems they have a great section on the First World War, new to us as the last visit was 2014. Very Interesting it was too ! Still Free admission, but we had to pay when leaving ! £7.50p

A wide selection of RSPs that I have bought over the last six months have all been a digitised versions in PDF which is, mainly, all I need for research purposes. Speedy delivery, often same day, with follow-up payment by bank transfer. Much cheaper too at around £2 a plan. The downside is that some plans have the RAF Museum copyright 'watermark' embedded which can be distracting and also covers details especially when the 'master' is poor quality to start with
I assume that they will still provide the printed version at cost if requested.
Due to demand there is a limit imposed on individuals that restricts the number of digital plans that can be ordered in a single month.
