I don't know if anyone has come across this site but I saw it mention in one of the Key forums.

It is a photo archive site which has a lot of phots from NARA (American archives). There are a lot of photos of airfield installations both low level oblique and ground level. The coverage is USAAF bases and some of the obliques are close and very detailed.
There are also a few aerial views from higher up to keep me happy(including Stradishall and Bradwell Bay for some reason).
More importantly the pictures are big and free (you have to register first to save photos though).
Hopefully they will continually update the site.

A cumbersome search engine but there are some interesting images there.

I have seen from other websites that it is possible to access a US website where there appears to be lot of World War 2 documents and photographs. Can someone direct me to website where these can be downloaded. Thank you.

I have used fold3 but never paid for it, PB may be the one to ask on that front as I think he might use it alot!

I use the free parts of Fold3.com (formerly Footnote.com) at least once a weekly, but rarely need to use the subscription sections as much of the info is available elsewhere. The bulk of what they host is from NARA, the US National Archives.
At certain times of the year, usually over Christmas, some of the subscription sections are made available for free for a few days.
