Thanks Jim that answers that question. At Culmhead we found several around the perimeter. I would imagine that the mount could be used for any form of light gun and the one at Culmhead was in a defense position a bit like this one

at Carew Cheriton. It would be nice if the Control Tower people could one day get at these defenses and clear them out and we could have a good look at them?

I am uploading RAF Carew Cheriton onto my website now and just have the history to write.

Excellent stuff, it is nice to actually find out what these things are.
The Motley Stalk mounts are located on the Carew Cheriton Site plans.

A rather complex mounting for the purpose I would have thought. The "Anglepoise" of gun mounts!
