Just to emphasise, while we enjoy the puzzles it is always best to provide as much context as possible, for instance date, location, source of the photo and if you are focusing on a small section of a larger photo, then that photo

Thanks

Ahh, sorry about that, I did not appreciate the need for such details. The second snip is also from a BfA photo number EAW009944.

Brigand were fairly rare, only 147 built and only a fuselage section surviving in store at RAFM Cosford

Hi All, back again with another old photo query. Britain From Above SAW022919. Showing the Clyde with a Light Fleet Carrier visible in dock with a deck full of (Seafires?) and three of another type without wings on the dockside. Please correct me if I am wrong with my I.D. of Seafires but can anyone help out with the others? Thanks in advance. The photo is dated 1949.

The radials could be Sea Furies. Not sure what the long cockpit one is as Avengers were long gone by then and it is too early for a Skyraider.

The way the aircraft were packed on there looks to me as if they are about to be dumped at sea.(sob)

That was my thinking too, which is why I came to the experts :-) It is a bit of a puzzle given the date of the photo and what I can see. Go to the website to view as it seems to enlarge better than my copy.

The long cockpit canopy one looks like a Harvard, did the FAA use Harvard's? The radial facing the ship certainly looks like a Sea Fury especially the tail. I now wonder if it could be an Avenger supplied for trials prior to the later 1950s batch supplied as part of mutual aid?

Anyone know what the ship was and where it came from, that might help?
