Sorry, good question.
MAP = Ministry of Aircraft Production
ASU = Aircraft Storage Unit (Maintenance Units)
IIRC = Text speak for If I Recall Correctly (I had to ask at work before I used it
)
I tend to use the acronyms because my typing speed is apallingly slow.
Just thought of one that had similar "pads" and that was Aston Down. They were more circular than recatngular though but of similar type. Blackbushe also had them south of the main road and not forgetting Ringway. Whether they were MAP related or not I can't recall.
