I was told at Bruntingthorpe yesterday that all six of the Tristars there are not going to be scrapped & are in fact now sold. They will be flying out of Bruntingthorpe for the states. No idea when though.

I had heard a while back that the aircraft had buyers, they are probably a good buy for someone due to how they've been kept and used.

I was pleased to hear this news to be honest. Much better than the the Bruntingthorpe scrapman getting his hands on them. I'll try & get some close up photos before they leave. There's a few airliners due in to Brunty soon as well as another 747. They are seriously running out of ramp space -

That must be the finest collection of large aircraft in the UK!
Agree about the TriStars, not sure what the RB211s are like to support these days.

Firefighting would seem a good use for them.

As well as the DC-10 the B747, BAe146, IL-76 and Beriev 200 have been trialled or used in the role.
