Earlier on the yesterday channel 5pm til 6pm I watched (Again) the Amiens Raid. Tomorrow at the same time it's the Doolittle Raid, also seen that before but still worth watching again.
Channel 4 tonight 8pm til 9pm. Attack of the Zeppelins. NEW ! Following this another repeat of the 'Bomber Boys' on the Yesterday channel 9pm til 11pm. Well worth seeing again !
An interesting and amusing programme on BBC2 at the moment called "The Wipers Times", about a satirical newspaper produced in the trenches of the Great War.
I started watching this but got bored with it very quickly, the acting was pretty poor ( I thought) also the way the soldiers spoke to their officers etc would never have been like that ! I know that it was based on a very interesting true story, but in those days the lower ranks had to have a lot more respect for their superiors than how it was portrayed last night. Just my opinion that's all.

I completely disagree. As a comedic drama it seemed to hit just the right note.
Regarding respect for superiors, you need to define what you mean by lower ranks, and superiors.
Nothing wrong with the acting either - it seemed very natural to me! Certainly not the "made for Sky" level of acting that I had to endure recently when I accidentally watched an episode of "Chickens".

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion aren't they ! That's mine and your's sorted-out then.
Two others from work saw it, one said; ''Well there weren't much else to watch was there'', The other said; ''It was alright, wouldn't go out of my way to watch it again though''.
I bought a copy of the compendium of "Wipers Times" published by Ian Hislop (who co-wrote the programme) a couple of years ago and I thought it was hilarious given the context. It was Private Eye in WWI. The programme just brought the whole thing back to life.
The dialogue that was written for the programme captured the humour of the people involved perfectly, and as to how the various ranks interacted with each other and the language used, well that was also spot on in my opinion. That really is how they talk to each other.
