I found a link to an RAF article that has no long gone but thanks to the "Wayback" machine it can be viewed again. Of interests was the quadrant sight being used (2006) which is shown below (original was small!).
It looks like the original wartime type base and Aldis sight but with binoculars and an electronic device for transmitting the bearing to the computer display.
" In each quad, while bombing operations are being carried out, a specially trained observer watches the relevant target and swings the sight to align its crosshairs over the strike point of each bomb as it is dropped. Most modern practice bombs emit a clearly visible flash and a cloud of white smoke on impact, enabling accurate scoring to be given even in poor visibility. Once the observer is satisfied his sight is properly aligned, he presses a button on the sight control panel to accept the bearing he has measured by tracking the bomb’s impact point. This information is transmitted immediately to the central tower. Since there are two or three quad towers, each of which transmits a bearing, the central tower computer can precisely fix the position of the bomb in relation to the target by taking the combination of bearings from the widely separated observers in the quads."
