The last callout I did at Leuchars was December 89, and I was working in flight planning at the time. It was brilliant cos I was non exercise, I went in to work (in blues!) and just put a white armband on, excellent!
And on the subject of call outs, there were two at Turnhouse whilst I was stationed at Pitreavie. The hooter went off then the tannoy burst in to life saying "station alert all personnel are to report for duty. Pitreavie personnel are not to respond", my kind of call out!!!!
Theres one thing worse than working at a weekend, and thats being on call. At Marham we had the air defence tanker commitment and this being the days before bleepers meant that you were on base for the whole of your time on call.
Wadpol awesome stuff green tin I seem to recall ?? the boys in the Domestic elect bay had a tin for Iron sole plates and of course SWS had loads of tins. I was at leuchars SWS today they now have an air con equipped mobile workshop, its in a purpose built container and is carried on a DROPS vehicle absolutely fantastic the lads really like it so it must be good !!
