Yes that is the one I saw today Richard. It's almost identical to the one at Coltishall.

Telephone exchange building. There are 2 at Scampton and ive always been told thats what they was. But im always willing to be corrected.

To be honest I'm pretty sure you are correct. From what I have been reading a Uniter "proper" is a lot bigger than the building above. Apparently at Coltishall there is a bigger Uniter building as well, but it's on the MOJ side so I haven't been able to look at it...

It's a Uniter Soft NUB, the same as at Coltishall, Wittering, Sealand, Brize Norton, etc.
Examples of the similarly-sized Uniter Hard NUB can be seen at St Mawgan, Coningsby, Marham, Lyneham, etc.

The great big Uniter bunkers at Uxbridge, Watton, Inverness, Prestwick, etc. would appear to be main "exchanges" along the network, with the smaller buildings being the individual site connections.

This is clearly a complicated and very much under-researched subject. I am going to split this off from the Scampton thread as it's worthy of it's own thread and has clearly crept a sufficient distance from the subject of Scampton...

It still raises the question as to why Scampton has a UNITER building... was the building intended for UNITER but it was never installed, so it was used as a telephone exchange building instead?

Theres a large uniter at benson, still in use, the one at uxbridge has been stripped out.

Additions to the list welcome, I wonder why none seem to have been built at Wattisham and Honington.
